汽車模型的各個部件都是澆鑄出來的，澆鑄就需要金屬模具。汽車模型廠里會有專門的車間生產金屬模具。他們根據石膏的模型，使用機床加工模具。這個車間猶如所有的機械加工廠一樣，一進入就會感到滾滾熱浪，金屬的撞擊聲、旋轉的刀具發(fā)出的切削聲不絕于耳。這是一個讓人不愿意多呆的地方，但是工人們依然默默的在自己的崗位上，為每一個精美的車模流著汗水。

和真車生產一樣，汽車模型也要先生產零件，再進行組裝。一般零件的材料有兩種——合金金屬和塑料。這些零件都是靠一種被香港人稱為“啤機”的機器來生產，不過它可不是釀造啤酒的機器，而是塑膠注塑機和金屬壓鑄機之類的機器。鑄出來的合金件外表會很粗糙，要經過打磨處理后，才能外表光華。他們發(fā)出略黑的金屬光澤，在陽光下很好看。塑料件的加工相對容易，不需要更多的處理。

汽車模型零件的做工直接影響到整體質量，尤其是一些能開啟的部件，例如：車門、行李廂之類，這些零件的尺寸精度要求是很高的，否則在開閉的時候會有松動現象發(fā)生。另外金屬鍍件的光亮程度，儀表板的粘紙等也很重要。

The workmanship of car model parts directly affects the overall quality, especially for some parts that can be opened, such as car doors, luggage compartments, etc. The dimensional accuracy of these parts is required to be very high, otherwise there will be loosening when opening and closing.
